In the past few days, my neighbors in District 12 have shared some of the reasons their voting for me. Letters from Sarah Shatz and Lydia Maurer ran in the papers. The following letters haven’t run yet, but I thought I’d share them with you here.

To the editor:
I am writing to explain why I am voting for Satya Rhodes-Conway for District 12 Alder.
I have attended two candidate events at which Satya has demonstrated a clear knowledge of the issues facing North and East Madison: concern about our drinking water, transportation, and development issues, among others. She has already done significant work on these issues and I am certain that as alder, she will continue to consider multiple perspectives when making decisions in service to our neighborhoods.
Satya has listened to neighborhood members, working to solve problems and to make local government accountable to the people it serves. She has already shown great leadership in facilitating discussions, and knows the process of city budgets and decision making. She is the clear choice to move District 12 forward in a thoughtful and collaborative way.

Dear Editor:
As a resident of the 12th Alder District and a Madison Northsider for over 30 years, I am looking for a candidate who will be the voice of everyone in our community. I believe Satya Rhodes-Conway is that person. Satya has already proven she is willing to work hard for our neighborhoods. She has organized meetings where city officials responded to our questions and concerns about water quality and public health, and facilitating a discussion on neighborhood responses to crime. We need an Alder who is willing to listen to all the needs of the district, not just the needs of those who have financial prowess. If you look at what Satya has accomplished already as a community leader you will see the bright, energetic, and thorough public voice we need to represent the 12th District. She will treat each District 12 resident and business owner’s issues and concerns with equal respect and compassion. Satya Rhodes-Conway is a great communicator, impeccably organized, and has the vision to lead our district well into the 21st century. For these reasons I am supporting Satya Rhodes-Conway for Alderperson of the 12th District in Madison.
